MY EXPERIENCE

Since qualifying I have been involved in several community clinics in London including a 6 month internship at the Gateway Clinic at Lambeth hospital offering free treatments to people with chronic pain and HIV, a project in Hoxton offering low cost treatment to Hackney residents over the age of 60, a project offering trauma treatments to refugees and asylum-seekers in South London and several years at the pioneering low cost clinic E5 Acupuncture in Hackney treating everyone and everything from chronic pain to fertility support. After 20 years of London life, I now enjoy a calmer pace of life back in my home town of sunny Worthing.

MY APPROACH

From the first day of my studies, I fell in love with the classical philosophy and theoretical framework that Traditional Chinese Medicine is rooted in. I feel it is vital to honour the source of this great medical system as well as understand it's interaction with western medical knowledge. My diagnostics and treatments are rooted in 3000 year old knowledge that I am continuously exploring and I enjoy teaching an introduction to Taoist philosophy and TCM principles at various CPD yin yoga trainings.

My approach reflects a deeply held value that acupuncture should be available to everyone. Since qualifying I have been committed to supporting and developing affordable acupuncture spaces and community acupuncture has been my primary mode of practice. Over the years, I have developed and refined an approach that gets me to simple and effective treatments in less time.

I believe that everyone should have access to the support they need to get to wherever they want to be. I have a gentle and non-judgemental approach to working together to get you there. Self care is worth nothing if we don't care for the community and natural world we're a part of.

CPD

I've completed post-graduate training in the treatment of pain and chronic conditions, sports injuries, stroke recovery, fertility and IVF support, pregnancy acupuncture, women's health, mental-emotional disharmonies, and trauma recovery.

I've attended, organised and assisted with the teaching of several facial revitalisation acupuncture workshops, and have completed specialist training in oriental facial therapies including gua sha and cupping.

I am also a qualified life coach and am able to incorporate coaching elements to encourage identification and achievement of healthy adjustments for clients committing to a treatment series.

AREAS OF INTEREST

Through previous employment as manager of a psychotherapy centre and also from my own experience of PTSD, I'm well informed of the effects of trauma on the mind, body and brain. I've developed a strong interest in mental health and trauma therapy and a drive to support others to overcome the damaging effects of disharmonies such as depression, low self-esteem, anxiety and insomnia.

I have recently qualified as a qigong instructor and have an ongoing interest in movement, self care, and ancient principles of harmonising with nature and the seasons.

WORK EXPERIENCE

Until its closure in 2015, I worked for many years at Kids Company as centre manager of a multi-disciplinary therapy centre in south London where vulnerable children, young people and their families accessed psychological support in a safe and much loved therapeutic space. I managed a large team of incredibly inspiring staff, therapists and volunteers, provided weekly acupuncture treatments for young people and adults and established annual wellness retreats for teenagers in the Devon countryside. It was pretty mind-blowing to witness how profoundly and quickly a simple bit of stillness, space and healthy human connection can positively affect individuals, then and way beyond a session or retreat. â€‹

Many many moons ago, I completed a BA Sociology degree at Goldsmiths University, I worked at Legal Action Group campaigning against cuts to legal aid and at the Financial Times organising international events.
